BACKPACK ministry

A seed was planted when viewing a video presented at the Baptist General Association of VA and grew into the Backpack Ministry. The  ministry provides children at Central Elementary who have been identified for the progam with a backpack of food items which is given to them on Fridays to take home for the weekend. On Monday the children are to return their backpacks so that it may be refilled for the following Friday.

This outreach has been rewarding for everyone involved as well as our whole congregation. With the help of many volunteers, generous donations of items to supplement the backpacks and monetary donations to buy items, we have strived to make a difference in the lives of children who normally do not have enough to eat.
