J.O.Y (Just Other Youth) Group
The Joy Group is a Senior Adult group but whoever wants to join in on the fun, food, and fellowship is welcome! This group meets once a month for a trip or a meal together. Many of the trips are day trips, but a couple of overnight trips are planned each year. Some places we have enjoyed are: The Biltmore in Ashville; Maymont Park in Richmond, VA; Amish Country in PA, Williamsburg,Va.; Virginia Beach, Va.; the Barter Theater in Abingdon, Va.; Wolf Trap in Northern, Va., and numerous local attractions just to name a few. Fellowship and fun are the objectives of Joy Group!
Homebound Ministry
Our ministry to our homebound members is an active one! We have a “Handy Man” team that goes to homes to make small repairs. We have a “travel team” that provides rides for any homebound members to appointments or to do shopping. We are constantly checking to see where we can improve our ministry to our homebound members.
Deacon Ministry
The men and women who serve as Manly's Deacons are actively involved in being leaders and servants of God. Every family in our church assigned to a Deacon. This creates a personal relationship with a caring friend who will visit, pray for you, and help with your needs. Our Deacons meet the second Sunday night of every month at 7:00 p.m.
Women’s Missionary Union
We promote awareness of and involvement in missions through study, prayer, financial support, personal witness and missions action -- going and doing.
In addition to Girls in Action, and Royal Ambassadors, Grades 1 – 6, which meet one Sunday a month during the 11:00 am worship, there are two Women’s On Missions circles that meet once a month. They are the Mission Action Circle, which meets at night, and the Prayer Support Circle, which meets during the day.
Woman's Missionary Union provides leadership for the four annual churchwide Seasons of Prayer (International, North American, State, and Associational missions) and other special missions projects.
College Ministry
As part of our ministry to students, each year interested students are paired with host families in the church to provide a “home away from home.” At a minimum, this relationship offers the student a chance to receive some home cooked meals and a place to relax away from the dorm room. Students and their host families decide on the frequency of their getting together. If someone is interested in being a part of the adoption ministry, they should contact the church office.
Our church also serves as the meeting place of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries (formerly BSU) for Washington and Lee University and Virginia Military Institute. During the school year they meet at Manly Memorial on Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM for Bible study.
