At MMBC, we believe that music is an essential part of the life and worship of God's people. Music provides a common language to communicate the joy and hope of the Christian life. Our Music Ministry seeks to aid in the spiritual formation of the congregation by using Christian music from a wide spectrum of sources and traditions.
The Sanctuary Choir is the main service choir for the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Membership is open to any singer high school age and older. No audition is required. This choir
performs a mix of musical anthems. It also performs seasonal Christmas and Easter music programs. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 7:30 til 8:30.
Our large Childrens' Choir rehearses each Wednesday evening at 6:15 (during the school year). The choir sings frequently during services of worship.
Jimmy Crowder leads the Youth Handbell Choir.
The Ladies Chorus, under the direction of Andrea Townley, sings three-part music arranged for women's voices. They sing for Women's Sunday and many other occasions. This group consists of any woman who can attend a special scheduled rehearsal prior to their performance. All are encouraged to be a part of this ad hoc group.
The Meador – Steele Handbell Choir is a handbell ensemble playing a 4-octave set of handbells. Membership is open to anyone who might be interested. Rehearsals are on Wednesday night 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. No experience is required.
The Manly Brass is an instrumental group that performs preludes, accompanies congregational singing, and occasionally accompanies the Sanctuary Choir on anthems and special programs. This group is formed when there are sufficient instrumentalists. Anyone with at least two years of experience on a band or orchestral instrument (regardless of long ago that might have been) is invited to participate. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
Service music and support for congregational singing is provided by a 53 rank Schantz pipe organ.
